There Overview

There is a virtual environment that is targeted for teens and older. It features various beautiful and exotic landscapes, including many places to hang out, socialize, drive vehicles, surf, and explore. Locations include tropical islands and a virtual Egypt with Sphinx and pyramids. Avatars can be customized in a variety of ways.

There is a very social virtual environment, perhaps one of the most social out there. Making friends, socializing, mild romance, being part of clubs, and having fun shared experiences is the primary focus

Unlike some virtual worlds and collaborative virtual environments, There features a skill leveling system which includes skills such as author, newbie helper, merchant, teacher, boat captain, fashionista, and so on. Advancing levels rewards players with gifts and virtual items that can be used by their avatars. This leveling system motivates Thereians to write stories, design fashion, interact with new players, and engage in more online activities.

The virtual currency in There is known as Therebucks. Therebucks can be purchased with a credit card or earned by creating and selling original clothing designs, vehicles and other objects.

In-game activities for Thereians include hoverboard and buggy races, user-created events, and paintball. There are many things to do, and most of these activities are centered around common interest clubs, friendship, and having fun with people from around the world.

Recently, Makena Technologies has collaborated with MTV networks to launch Virtual Laguna Beach and Virtual Hills, virtual environments based on the popular TV shows that allow fans to meet, socialize, and create experiences together.
